We built the thing we kept wishing existed.
enwitness comes from people who’ve owned buildings and sat on owners corporation committees for more than twenty years, and who were tired of taking service on trust.
Every building runs on work you can’t see: the clean that happens at 10pm, the patrol at 2am, the garden tidied while you’re at the office. When it’s done well, nobody notices. When it isn’t, everybody argues, and nobody can prove a thing, because the records were never built to prove anything.
We wanted proof, not promises. Not surveillance, not a timesheet: just an honest, shared record that the right people were where they needed to be, when they needed to be there. Something a worker would accept, an owner would trust, and a contractor could hand a client without flinching. So we built it.
Built right here in Australia, for Australian conditions. We’re starting at home, in buildings we understand, with the weather and the strata rules and the way things actually work here. New Zealand, the UK and Singapore follow: each done properly for its own market, not find-and-replaced.
The building is the witness. A beacon confirms presence at a checkpoint and records nothing else - no camera, no microphone, no GPS, nothing running between checkpoints. That one decision shapes the rest: workers are protected rather than policed, owners get evidence rather than surveillance, and the record stays something every side can stand behind.
We would rather earn trust than claim it. We call the record tamper-evident, not tamper-proof. We say designed privacy-first, not compliant. And we never dress an illustration up as a real customer - when we can show you something real, we will. We are based in Melbourne, close to the buildings, owners and committees we are building this for.
Stuart Marburg
Founder
Stuart is one of Australia’s original internet entrepreneurs. In 1992, while still at university, he co-founded Netspace, growing it over 17 years from a dial-up provider into a full-service telecommunications company with 200 staff and over 100,000 services spanning residential customers, businesses from ASX-listed companies through to small business, and Victorian government schools, for which Netspace was the sole internet provider. Netspace was acquired by iiNet in 2010.
He then spent many years on the advisory board of MessageMedia, the Melbourne-founded business messaging platform, including stepping in as CEO during a period of transition and global expansion across Australia, the US, UK and New Zealand. He also co-founded and chaired Call Dynamics, a call-tracking and analytics business acquired by Uniti Group in 2019.
Today Stuart is a director of Tenpaces, an owner and developer of commercial and residential property. He was also a long-standing owners corporation chairperson. Those roles put him on the other side of the table: the building owner who pays for cleaning, security and maintenance but has no simple way of knowing the work was actually done. Across three decades of building businesses, his focus has stayed the same: strong teams, well-coached people, and technology that solves real problems simply.
enwitness brings those threads together: a platform that proves the right person was in the right place at the right time, built by someone who has spent a career in both the technology and the buildings it serves.
